This year the Diamond X Triathlon will be a little different, but in a good way. Since one of our goals is to make this triathlon as fun and un-intimidating as possible for first time triathletes we will be modifying the swim. It will still be an out and back .25 mile swim but you may use flotation devices if you choose! (ie life jackets, arm floaties, swim noodles: use your imagination and get creative!!!) As long as your hips are in the water and no propulsion devices such as swim fins or paddles are used, anything goes.
Race packet pick up and registration will be from 6:30 am-7:30am under the pavilion at the reservoir. The transition area will also open at 6:30am on July 6 for you to set up. The triathlon will start at 8:00am sharp.
Swim– You begin the course by swimming at the Sulphur Creek Reservoir. The .25 miles is an out and back swim. You will go around the bouy with it on your right and turn around it clockwise. This swim accommodates both novice and skilled swimmers. Wet suits are recommended but not required.
Bike– You will transition to the bike on the banks of the Sulphur Creek Reservoir. The approximate 15 mile out and back bike ride will begin by turning right onto county road 173 then left on scenic Highway 150. Half way down the Highway you will reach a clearly marked turn around point. After turning around you will continue the moderately flat bike ride back to the transition. Helmets are mandatory. NO headphones or music devices are allowed on the bike portion of the race.
Run– After arriving back at the reservoir you will change into your running shoes, you will turn left down county road 173 and run an out and back distance totaling 5k. Headphones and music devices are allowed ONLY on this portion of the race. You will finish the race by circling back to the entrance of the sulphur creek reservoir.
If you have any questions about the course please post them in the comments section below for everyone to see and we will answer them promptly.
